Who we are
PythonCook is a product of Aperintel Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17250572). Aperintel Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us through aperintel.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and the display name you choose.
- Learning data: your exercise attempts, mastery levels, review schedule, capstone submissions (the public repository links you give us), and which cooks you have completed. This is the data that makes your dashboard and spaced-repetition schedule work.
- AI usage counts: how many coach requests you make each day, so we can apply the daily quota for your plan.
- Subscription status: whether you are on Free or Plus. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Code you write in the codeground runs in your own browser. We do not record keystrokes, and we do not use advertising trackers.
How the AI coach uses your data
When you ask the coach for help, we send your question, the relevant code, and any error output to the third-party AI providers that generate the reply (currently providers such as OpenRouter, Groq, Google, Mistral, and Cerebras). We send only what is needed to answer; your name and email address are not included. Do not paste secrets, passwords, or personal information into coach requests or the codeground.
Voice features
Read-aloud is generated on your device by your browser and sends nothing to us. If you use spoken explain-back, your browser's own speech recognition converts your speech to text, and depending on your browser that may involve the browser vendor's speech service. We receive only the resulting text, never the audio.
Where your data lives
Account and learning data are stored in our database hosted with Supabase in the European Union. Payment data is held by Stripe under its own privacy terms.
Legal bases and retention
We process your data to provide the service you signed up for (contract), to apply quotas and prevent abuse (legitimate interests), and, where we ever ask for it, with your consent. We keep your data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, and ask for your data in a portable format. Contact us through aperintel.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
What we do not do
We do not sell your data, we do not run third-party advertising, and we do not use your learning data for anything other than running PythonCook.
